Coming Soon - The Gallery

This is the gallery that the 1st Viscount Lee of Fareham, co-founder of he Courtauld Institute of Art in London and a prominent British politician and philanthropist who donated Chequers to the nation, had built in the 1930s to securely store irreplaceable masterpieces from the National and Tate Galleries provide ahead of the onset of WWII. Viscount Lee lived at The Old Quarries after retiring from public life. He was a major benefactor to Avening, famously donating the village recreation ground. The Gallery is being restored and will be available as one of 8 houses in Phase 2. It will be a huge house with very high ceilings throughout the ground floor with floor to ceiling windows and doors leading on to its private garden.
